MUS&HM 2025
ND Wong (MUS&HM 2025) graduated with distinction from the Professional Stream in Urban Studies & Housing Management at HKU's Faculty of Architecture, where he served as class representative.
While studying at HKU, ND continued working in facility management and passed several public examinations in sustainability, green building, and occupants’ well-being—earning him the 2025 Professional Development Commendation Award from the Hong Kong Institute of Housing.
He was also student ambassador for the Generations Connect Project (2024), hosted by the School of Public Health—an experience that inspired his dissertation on elderly well-being in public housing estates.
Beyond buildings and urban spaces, ND loves exploring the underwater world and the beauty of nature.

Most valuable lesson from uni?
The biggest lesson I took from HKU is learning to balance academics, work, and family commitments. Juggling these taught me discipline, time management, and how to prioritise effectively.
As class rep, I got better at communicating and leading by supporting peers and bringing everyone together. All of it made me more resilient and adaptable—ready for whatever comes next.
Quote that helped you persevere through challenges?
“Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” This became my guiding mantra. It reminds me that deliberate steps—even if they feel slow—lead to better results and fewer mistakes. When balancing studies, work, and family felt overwhelming, staying calm and methodical helped me maintain progress and build resilience.

One item to represent your time at HKU?
My mic recorder—used for interviews with elderly residents for my dissertation. It’s more than a tool; it symbolises the power of truly listening. Those conversations taught me that real understanding comes from hearing people’s stories, histories, and needs. It captured their voices and reminded me of our duty to engage with and support the community—a lasting call to listen carefully and honour others’ stories.
