Most valuable lesson from uni?

Never be afraid to step out of my comfort zone. This mindset allowed me to experience so much more than just academics— I joined college societies, played in the university orchestra, went on exchange to Singapore, and even took a gap year for a Disney internship. These opportunities not only helped me grow as a more extroverted and confident person but also led me to make lifelong friends and unforgettable memories along the way.

Quote that helped you persevere through challenges?

‘Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more.’ This simple yet powerful reminder helped me stay grounded and positive, allowing me to appreciate every opportunity along the way.

One item to represent your time at HKU?

Chopin’s Nocturne piano piece. My 1st year at uni was during the pandemic, when many students opted for online classes at home. I chose to come to HK and started my new life in Lap-Chee College, which became my home for the next 5 years. During that time, with limited social events and few opportunities to make friends, playing the piano every day became my routine. Chopin’s music in particular was my companion through those lonely times, bringing me comfort and a sense of connection.
