Most valuable lesson from uni?
It came from being a part of the Lap-Chee College Ambassadors (LCA) for three years. When I first joined HKU, I was quite shy and introverted, often hesitant to step out of my comfort zone. However, becoming an active member of the LCA provided me with a supportive & enthusiastic environment where I gradually overcame my social anxiety. I not only developed meaningful friendships but also gained confidence in my ability to connect with others and contribute to the community. I had the opportunity to help organise a wide range of events which brought the college community closer together, which taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.
Quote that helped you persevere through challenges?
“Change is the only constant. So, keep changing for the better. Be better every day.” ... This reminds me to focus less on comparing myself to others and more on comparing myself to who I was yesterday and helped me develop patience, self-compassion, and determination. As long as I’m moving forward, no matter how slowly, I’m on the right path. It’s a lesson I continue to carry with me beyond university.

One item to represent your time at HKU?
My mechanical toolbox and a set of set squares, each holding a deep personal meaning for me. ... The mechanical toolbox is especially close to my heart as it was a gift from my father after I performed well in my Grade 10 public examinations in 2019. ... Since then, I carry it with me wherever I go, not just as a practical toolset but as a symbol of my father’s support and as a reminder to keep learning, stay curious, and always be willing to lend a hand.
